LILAC Document Help
Setup Email Address
LILAC supports three eMail options to suit various requirements.

1. LILAC eMail - Microsoft Outlook (MAPI)
2. LILAC eMail - Client Computer Based
3. LILAC eMail - Server Based

The Setup Email Address table only applies to options 2 and 3 above. It is not used when MAPI eMail is enabled.
Company settings will establish which eMail option is implemented.

The minimum requirement for each entry is an email address, User Name, and Password. The email address may often be used as the User Name. Domain is only used if an email address is too large.

a. Leave the Port setting and the SSL check box blank to use plain unencypted eMail to SMTP port 25.
b. Or, use port 465 for SSL encrypted connections, and tick SSL.
c. Or, use port 587 with no SSL tick to deploy the level of encriyption considered "best" (TLS 1.2).

Mail Server entry required in Company Data
Option 1: LILAC eMail Microsoft Outlook (MAPI)
The Email button from the ribbon of a LILAC Window:

- Opens Microsoft Outlook with a LILAC PDF document attached.
- Usual Microsoft Outlook processes then apply.
An image of the LILAC document selected will be attached to the eMail as an Adobe PDF rendering, in all email options 1,2, and 3.

This PDF image can contain direct links to other documents or files which have been pasted or dropped into the LILAC document.
Option 2: LILAC eMail Client Computer Based
The Email button from the ribbon of a LILAC Window:

- Opens LILAC Email Client, with a LILAC PDF document attached.
- LILAC Email Client contains edit, attach, send, view sent items, etc, emailing functionality.

The LILAC Email client module relies on settings in Documents -> Setup -> eMail Addresses to locate a suitable SMTP server to use to forward the eMail. The eMail body may be in plain text or SSL encrypted depending on the settings in the Setup Email Address table.
Option 3: LILAC eMail Server Based
The Email button from the ribbon of a LILAC Window:

- Opens LILAC Server Based eMail transmission with the LILAC PDF document attached.
- LILAC Server Based eMail contains useful core emailing functionality, edit, attach, send, view sent items, etc, as well as further object orientated document design, html, and marketing presentations.

This setup is appropriate where security settings prevent eMail transmission from workstation PCs on the local network and the SMTP transaction is to be handled by the LILAC server.

Server Based eMail permits the use of Lennox Computer Verity Document technology to allow the creation of more sophisticated eMail body documents containing images and formatted text. The transmitted eMail body is rended in HTML format for display to the recipient.
